Diary of a Soundman

I had the pleasure of working on CBC’s Arctic Air last season up in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada at the end of that summer. That is Season II for those keeping score. I was very excited to hear I had been hired to go up there to work on the show. It is always great to travel and see new things, meet new people, learn new things about the world, and it does not happen too often, so… I must confess that I was a little freaked out about the prospect of getting my gear all the way up there.

Well, this year has not been as busy as I was hoping. Due to an injury I have been out of commission for three months, and I missed out on a fairly huge opportunity because of it. It was out of my control, so no use crying over it.  I couldn’t have changed anything. Well this week on The Haunting Hour has been a challenging one for Wayne (my Boom Operator) and I. This week’s episode takes place on a commuter jet prop airplane. That is about all I can say about it due to not giving the story away before it airs. Dakota Goyois our child actor on this episode. He playes young Thor from that movie and is a major player in a movie with Hugh Jackman called Rise of the Gaurdians that will be coming out very soon. Great little actor.
